Summary0000502: Tcl/Tk GUI is unresponsive under Windows 7
DescriptionThe Tcl/Tk GUI is currently completely unresponsive when running on Windows 7. The same binary runs without problems on Windows XP.

Probably related to bug 395: according to ben we need to use the tclInt.h header file or else platform-dependent silliness will occur. However, initial testing doesn't seem to confirm that.

As of changeset 3352, the bug is confirmed on Windows 7 only. On other platforms Tcl/Tk GUI is working normally.

Possibly this is an issue relating to 64-bit Windows as no testing on 64-bit Windows XP has been attempted. Or it could be a weird Windows 7 problem of some other kind.

checking to see if reply works.

also, there are a few tcl-script level things that can go wrong with
the gui, depending on the events Windows sends to the process. We had
a similar problem going from 98 to XP many years ago.
Is there any gui at all (splash screen, etc) or does it just never come up?
Is this build based on activestate tcl or a tcl that came with mingw
or one we built atop mingw?

I've put in an academic partner request for activestate products--
we'll see where it goes. If it comes through,
it should allow fully windows-native redistribution.

I can't remember if the GUI failed to appear, or else appeared but
didn't respond to clicks. I was using the ActiveState distribution, I've
never bothered attempting to compile my own Tcl/Tk.
